MY BFF just bought her first pad! help color her world?

I always get such great feedback here- I thought I would ask for some help with my friend J's new place. She just bought a big house and has some issues with the existing painting. The owner had some sort of marbleized paint technique going on that we agree is a not cute and J wants help with color choices. She loves the bright turquoise in the kitchen and like the chocolate brown in the dining room- she just wants to marry the two and take away the marble mess. Should she repaint the chocolate everywhere (over the marble) or repaint a new color? Is chocolate brown too dark for the big space? Suggestions? Please leave a comment! MERCI!

Her garden made me want to paint the world in pastel egg colors and skip!
We are so drinking wine there this spring!

How 'bout a nice Latte color.
A little lighter, softer version of the brown.

Agree with Jenni... Latte would be nice! I would do that or paint the marble part the same brown as before.

Every home needs a red room.

You can call me Betty, or Bethany, or Beth ...Just don't call me late for dinner. said...

Robin's Egg Blue could be great there too... definitely something light.

My BFF is buying a house and has a similar issue with a faux-finish paint job there. Does that stuff have to be sanded down before it can be re-painted? If not, won't it make the new paint all textured and weird?

PS-- maybe I am tacky, but some rich green or metallic gold (just a little bit) would be nice with that turquoise, too...

If there is plenty of natural light coming into the room then the chocolate brown will work. If not you probably should lighten it up.

My new favorite paint/color:

Potter's Clay by Lifemaster (eco-friendly paint with no VOCs). The color is amazing...can't tell you how many people ask me for the info when they see it in our house.

btw, it's my d r e a m to own a home soon! i've been a renter my whole life. thankfully, the people who own our home are ok with me painting the place up and making slight adjustments here and there.

love the new etsy!
